Cool! I assume that when you were
taking the lid off or doing some other manipulation during your
inspection, the bee's abdomen got cleanly sheared off. The bee's
brain isn't in the abdomen so it is just going about its business.
I wouldn't have lived very long after all this happened. This is
the same sort of thing as when you chop off a chicken's head and
it runs around a bit before falling over.
