It would be very interesting to see what will come of Monsanto's acquisition of Beelogics. I'm speculating that Monsanto is mostly interested in some RNAi technology that Beelogics has been developing to control viral disease in bees. On the flip side, Beelogics may also benefit from similar RNAi technology that Monsanto has developed for control of corn rootworm in transgenic plants. I've included a link to a PLoS research article describing relevant work that Beelogics has done recently in collaboration with the USDA. I think it would be great if this cutting-edge research continues and results in new treatments against bee viruses that could mitigate CCD.
