Kate, Moving bees is easy & fun. 1) Wait until after dark so everybody in the hive is home. 2) Seal up the entrance. If you have a screened bottom board, you can use something like a towel to seal the entrance (the screened bottom keeps the bees from suffocating). If you have a solid bottom board, use something like old window screen to seal the entrance. Make sure the opening is entirely secured, especially at the edges. 3) If you have a notched inner cover, make sure the outer cover is slid all the way to the opposite side so the notch is closed up. 4) Wrap the hive with a strong bungee cord or tie-down strap to hold everything together tight. 5) It's a two-person job to lift the hive into the back of a pickup truck or, if you are a risk taker, a minivan. 6) Move the bees to their new permanent home & repeat the process backwards. Good luck! Let us know how it goes. Randall Austin On 10/3/2010 8:26 PM, kate demayo wrote: hey everyone, |
