To Ocba
I am sending our plans for the OCBA Booth out to the general list serve because I have some email addresses that are not working.  If you did not make the meeting or sign up, you can still be involved.  Anyone of our season captains would love to have help, so please contact them directly or reply to this message and I will pass along your interest.  We will also have a wax workshop that I hope you can attend and any entries you make for the fair can be included in our booth display.  Lewis sent out the link to the fair site but remember you have to register ahead of time to enter.
Thanks to Everyone for your involvement.

Dear Team
Here is the plan that I think emerged at our meeting.
Each level will represent a season in the first year of beekeeping and will contain a physical representation of the idea plus written documentation, ie. quotes, charts, facts and visual documentation, photographs, artwork.

The top level will be Spring: Getting bees,Packages and Nukes.  Saundra Kirven and Jane Saiers will head up this team.  Lewis will help build framework to hang a display on that may include queen cages and packages.  We may use a nuke on the floor to show both what hive bodies are like and what nukes are like.  Saundra may add a display on top of the nuke discussing reactions to bee stings and proper treatment.  She may also make some flip charts to go on the rail of bee terminology.

The next level is Summer: Honey Production, led by Lizbeth Collins and Hilton Holcomb.  It will feature a display of honey with its different categories for judging as well as a display showing the steps for extraction.

The next level, bottom step, is Fall: Products of the Hive with Betsy Kemptor and Elizabeth Branch.  It will display candles and beauty products along with recipes.  It may also contain information about preparing the hive for overwintering.  We will have a wax making workshop prior to this to get things ready.

The floor level is Winter: Bee School led by Ray Aponte with help from Eric Solie [Jerome had to step aside.]  It will feature a school desk display of bee books as well as images and words from our bee school.

Lewis and I are hard at work at our Bee Wheel of Fortune Game plus I have a poster display of 12 Honey plants.

Please talk to your partners and let us know what you need.
thanks
Geneva

PS Below is an email from Laura and Bob Moore showing how important our booth can be.  They are also offering to help so please contact them if you need an extra hand.
Bob thanks for the inspiring note.
Geneva:

Laura and I had been talking about keeping bees for several years.  We have a vegetable garden, many hundreds of flowers and had read many articles about the decline of honey bees.  Last Fall, at the State Fair, we visited the beekeeping exhibits.  We talked to several bee keepers about the prospect.  They were very informative and encouraging.  That day we decided to take the plunge.

We attended the OCBA school, read several books, purchased our equipment from Busy Bee and Brushy Mountain and on Saturday Lewis helped us install our bees.  Our evening routine now involves sitting by our hives watching our bees.

Were it not for the State Fair, I doubt that we would now be beekeepers.  Let us know if we can help with your efforts.

Best regards,

Bob Moore
