Dang! I forgot about a group coming to tour the SFC on June 21st. This will keep Stephanie and I occupied. It is for a film-related conference in Chapel Hill that may be of interest to the group:

http://www.southarts.org/site/c.guIYLaMRJxE/b.1313047/k.7CE7/Folklorists_in_the_South.htm

We'd really hate to miss the meeting. Could we reschedule it?

Apologies,

Steve

Hi all --

It sounds like meeting on June 21st will work for most of us. Since Lisa has
something in the afternoon, let's tentatively plan to meet from 10:30-12:00
(with the possibility of lunch after) that day. I'll send more details in
the next couple of weeks!

Best,

Kirston

Daytime is do-able.
I have already got an item on my calendar in Raleigh for 6 30 PM on
Monday the 21st, so that is my first choice, to reduce my mileage costs.
Other than that, Wednesday is not ideal.

Hello Kriston!
Glad to see some activity for MCMIA....as for your query:

Are you thinking a day or evening meeting? Weekday or weekend?
Either of these variances will make a huge difference in the size of my
answer.

Hi NCMIA folks -

I'd like to host our next meeting at Duke and thought mid to late-June
might be a good time to do this. Because I'd like as many of you as
possible to attend, I'm writing to ask that you send out days and times
that will work best for you.

Stephanie Stewart and I have been discussing meeting topics and both
collecting policies and appraisal for moving image materials have been
suggested. What do you all think about focusing on those two areas in
June?

At some point, I'm also interested in a meeting that focuses on choosing
both access and preservation master file formats for analog videotape
digitization - and how those might change depending on source tape
characteristics, long-term preservation goals, and IT support. I'm also
interested in finding out more about how archives are working with IT /
storage admin staff to store and preserve digital moving image files.

Duke Libraries recently purchased a SAMMA Solo, an automated tape to
digital file migration system, and I'm happy to show everyone our new
moving image digitization workstation in June.

Let me know what you all think!

Best,

Kirston

Even thought Devin and I are non-archivist lurkers, we'd love to come if

we can and it looks
like we'd be open the 21st.
