My first question is: Do the pears have seeds in them? Sometimes trees will produce fruit without pollination. That happened to me a couple of years ago. I had a Sirrine pear tree that nearly every pear had no seeds in them. They were a little smaller than usual. The process is called parthenocarpic.

Nineteen years ago I planted a Ure Pear along with two would-be
pollinators. The pollinators died long ago and the self-sterile(?) Ure has
remained barren until this year. For the first time, it is producing fruit,
but only on the lower branches. Has anyone else had a self-sterile fruit
tree that has become self-fertile?
