No. No. No. No. Johnny Appleseed, a Swedenborgian, was theologically opposed
to grafting. The nickname "Appleseed" may have been given to him
contemptuously, because he only propogated apple trees from seed. The apples
from his trees were only good for cider -- at least no tree from the
thousands that Johnny Appleseed propogated was ever admired enough to have
been perpetuated.
