I have both too, but I'd sure like to try this.  I agree that I would never
trust them in my orchard cuz they might just get untrained and then it would
be too late.  But one of these days I will not be home to greet them on my
doorstep when they do get out (they are all pets so they come find me when
they get out!) and this little safety precaution that might mean I would
still have an orchard left when I did get home!

HAHAHA.

Yup that works until the day it doesn't.  And goats will strip the bark
girdling fruit trees.  Both species will use fruit trees as rubbing posts.

I have had both goats and sheep.  Short of electrifying the entire tree or
crop I would NEVER rely on aversion training to protect my fruit from them.

Hello All,

I am looking at my scion wood order for this spring and and am inquiring
whether anyone has any experience with any of these varieties, especially in
the Upper Midwest. They are primarily older European apple varieties
considered as having polygenic disease resistance. Admittedly they may
perform differently under differing conditions so I thought I would see if
any NAFEXers dealt with these varieties.
