John,
M.alba(white mulberry) can produce fruits that run the gamut of white, pink, lavendar, red to black.
If I'm seeing white fruits, I'm betting on it being M.alba - but red/lavendar/purple fruits may also be produced by members of the same species.

I've never encountered M.rubra producing anything other than berries that go from green to red to dark purple/black.  Have no experience with M.nigra, but I suspect that its berries mature dark purple, like those of M.rubra.

The posts about white mulberries have me confused at this point.  I thought that the Morus species could produce white, red or dark fruit and that the fruit color did not dictated what species of Morus you had.  Yet the posts all seem to assume that if you have fruit that is white, then you are dealing with M. alba.

Can someone who knows for sure clarify this in the interest of accuracy?

Thanks

John
