I had a sudden urge today to try and propagate my own grapes from
cuttings. Most of the catalogs don't have the varieties that I want,
and the nurseries that have varieties I want send pretty small plants,
which get lost unless I plant them in a nursery bed first, and at that
point I might as well be doing my own. I've had good success with
willow and ribes cuttings (easy) and I've read the relevant section of
Lon's book, so I think I can do it.

Anyways, I'm not too particular on variety, as long as it would ripen
in SE michigan, zone 5. I want them for fresh eating, and would like
some seedless varieties, as the ones I have now are mostly seeded. So
my biggest concerns are: Adaption to my location, good taste, and easy
to grow with no spraying. Catawba does not ripen at our place, as I
found out after I bought it from a local nursery, but the Concord that
was here when we moved in does ripen, and seems quite productive and
delicious despite it's rambling and untended nature. Goes back on a
trellis next year, and OFF the austrian pine. ;)

I wrote some varieties down from Lon's book, so if you have any of
these I would be interested, or in your own suggestions for my area:

Mars
Worden Seedless
Alwood
Kay Gray
Cayuga White
Steuben
Louis Swenson
Interlaken
Lakemont
Canadice
Petite Jewel
Reliance
Vanessa
Venus
Ives
Sheridan
Chelois
Vincent

I already have Marquis, Somerset Seedless, Concord, and Catawba (which
the chickens enjoy unripe after the first couple frosts)

thanks!
