As I wrote, Surround was not effective in controlling plum curculios on my apples. I was able to thoroughly coat the trees as needed using a Stihl gasoline powered backpack sprayer. It sends out a fine mist that gives very good coverage. I would put about half the water into a bucket, add the Surround, then mix for about 45 seconds with with mixing blade attached to my electric drill. I then would add sulfur for scab control (very effective) and mix again.

I have had no problems with clogging in my hand held sprayer.  I was
advised to use the following protocol and so far it has worked for me.

1) add desired amount of Surround powder to an open bucket.
2) add water slowly while mixing to dissolve the powder thoroughly (I
use my bare hands, it is kind of like preparing a dough!  That way I can
feel the  lumps and break them up to maximize dissolved product)
3) pour the Surround/water mixture through a screen-type strainer into
the sprayer reservoir.
4) Dilute as necessary to achieve the correct concentration.

I have even let my prepared mixture sit for a couple of hours, agitated
the mixture in the sprayer then proceeded with spraying without
clogging.
