Doreen:

Jazz is a new one from New Zealand (Splendor x Gala, I think) and is a so-called "club" variety which means that its production is restricted to certain larger growers.  Trees are often literally owned by the  licensing agency (ENZA, of New Zealand is the owner I think) and trees are never propagated for sales to the public.

I found a new apple at the grocery store this week.  Jazz.  It's about the size, color and shape of a Winesap and tastes remarkably like it.

Do you know anything about this "new" variety.  Or could it be a marketing repackage with a jazzy name?  It is too early for Winesap, but perhaps this might be a variant.
