Apples of New York doesn't list such an apple, but Apples of Maine lists one called Pie Apple. The scant data included indicates that the apple was exhibited at the York County Agricultural Society in 1850 and the apple may actually be Holland Pippin or Sops of Wine.

I had Bruce Hansen graft Sops of Wine to Bud 9 stock for me last year, and that tree is now in the ground. S of W has a sweet, dessert flavor, but the flesh isn't crisp--which would make it a good pie apple.
My 2 cents worth,
Doreen Howard

I met a older couple recently who are moving from a
farmstead here in Northeast Iowa to a home in town. I
ask them if there were any fruit trees around their
farmstead and the wife talked fondly about a variety
she called " Pie Maker". Has anyone heard of an apple
that goes by this name?
I told her that she could take this tree with them to
their new home by grafting a scion of Pie Maker to a
dwarf rootstock.
