Remember that Gurney's and several other "nurseries" don't grow their own
stock - they contract out or buy from various small growers, not all of
which are careful/scrupulous. Because many homw growers such as yourself
either won't complain or raise any sort of fuss, they figure they can get
away with it. It's likely to get a lot worse now, with Gurneys, Henry
Fields, Stark Bros., and more having been bought up by "My Season", which is
owned by Novartis, the giant which is doing so much genetic engineering.
NAFEX is going to be more necessary than ever before, to insure that old,
non-genetically engineered fruits are available.
