There's been lots of talk about squirrels, but my biggest problem is
chipmunks. Mine have had a very good season, and I've gone from a few
chipmunks and a few holes, to chipmunk city, and holes everywhere. They
ate almost every berry off my red currant bushes (weeks before they
would have turned red) and the only pink or red strawberry I've seen yet
was caught on top of a leaf, and invisible from below. (I get abundant
blossoms and white berries.) They ate many of the black currants, as
well, but did leave a few for us. They're awfully cute, especially the
babies (and we've had lots of those) but I'd like to keep them off my
fruit. Any advice? I tried bird net on the strawberry patch last
year. I snared two chipmunks and a snow bird (all dead by the time I
found them) but still didn't harvest a berry.
