Dear Local Level Instructor:

The PA State Fire Academy is pleased to announce a Professional Development opportunity scheduled for October 17 & 18, 2015 to be held at the PA State Fire Academy in Lewistown.

The attached PDF is the workshop agenda and registration. Please take an opportunity to review as we have different courses each day.

Enrollment each day will be limited.  The registration deadline is October 9, 2015.  The application process will be as follows:

We have created a Google Form to take the applications electronically. The electronic application can be found at the following address: http://goo.gl/forms/j729zOSTbn If your email program does not support Hyperlinks, copy and paste the previous address into your internet browser.

After submitting your application electronically, there is no other action required on your part.

In the event you are not able to access the electronic application, you must print the attachment and return to the Fire Academy via US Mail.

0800 Opening Remarks and

Memoriam: 10 year Anniversary of Captain Bob Gallardy LODD

1015 “Flow Path: Knowledge from Brain to Pencil” – Adjunct Instructor Rob Skertich - Instructors can prepare students academically, by improving their understanding of classroom material through better classroom experiences, study habits and test-taking skills. Learn real-world examples of adult learning theory to help students improve their learning process.

1130 Working Lunch (provided) during Keystone Chapter Fire Service Instructors (KCFSI) Annual Meeting (Sat. Only)

1230 – 1630 Train-The-Trainers (T-T-T) for Saturday Afternoon

#1 T-T-T: PA Traffic Incident Management (PA-TIM)

This T-T-T course is the PA version of the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) Traffic Incident Management Class for delivery at the local-level.

#2 T-T-T: Fire Dynamics Fundamentals & Fire Dynamics Strategy & Tactics

Two (2) new 3-hour courses based on the research by UL, NIST and ATF on fundamentals (part 1) and the strategy and tactics (part 2) of Fire Dynamics. For Suppression Instructors only.

#3 T-T-T: PEMA G-235 Emergency Planning (Prerequisite: G-235 course)

PEMA T-T-T designed to provide Emergency Management (EM) personnel (planners) the ability to write comprehensive EM plans in concert with Federal, State and Local plans based upon recent disasters. DHS mission areas and a link to the Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG) 101, along with coordinated emergency planning all levels of government presented.

#4 T-T-T: Responding to Electrical Emergencies (PILOT)

Newly updated 4-hour course to educate first responders on the dangers of electricity and establish proper guidelines for safe handling of electrical emergencies. Course provided courtesy of UGI.

0800 – 1200 Train-The-Trainers (T-T-T) for Sunday Morning Only

#5 T-T-T: Fire Dynamics Fundamentals & Fire Dynamics Strategy & Tactics

#6 T-T-T: Responding to Natural Gas Emergencies (PILOT)

Newly updated 4-hour course to educate first responders on the dangers of natural gas and establish proper guidelines for safe handling natural gas emergencies. Course provided courtesy of UGI.

0800 – 1630 Course Update & T-T-T Sunday Morning & Afternoon

#7 Basic Fire Police Course Update – Sunday Offering Only

This 8-hour session is an update of the current Basic Fire Police (FIPO) curriculum offered to existing fire police instructors only. The new PPT presentations, student skills, written tests, manuals, etc. are presented so local-level instructors can upgrade and teach this newly revised curriculum. Morning classroom reviews the revised curriculum followed by the afternoon session for the setup of all the skill stations required by the students.

#8 T-T-T: G-290 Basic Public Information Officer – Sunday Offering Only

8-hour PEMA T-T-T designed on the basic skills needed to be a full or part-time PIO. For instructors that have conducted live/videotaped media interviews within three years in a media or PIO capacity. Prerequisite: ICS-100b and 200.
