I also wear Ariat Terrains. In addition to the points already made by Jorene I like that I can change the type of sock I wear with them. Thinner socks in the warmer months and warmer socks in winter. The laces allow me to adjust for the differences. I have some pull on Ariat's that I ride in when I'm just fooling around or trail riding but I find the lace-up Terrains are much more comfortable. I also have some Whites that are a good cross between Terrains and pull ons- but not comfortable for long hikes in steep terrain.

It's YOUR foot so you have to consider YOUR fit, YOUR terrain, YOUR weather range, YOUR comfort level. :-)
