When you are out in the public eye you have no choice but to wear one.....I am being redundant again in stating "I am just being honest about what I do"....

GREAT Weather, Gr8 weekend.....Thanks!

I understand your prespective on this.  It's also important to be a role model. I recall patrolling a children's safety fair. There were two unit members wearing hard hats, the others were wearing western straw hats. We were on concrete. A highlight of the day for the kids was when a helicopter landed. There was a lot of activity and people. I cringed when parents asked why we were not all wearing protective headgear while on horseback. They said it sent a mixed message when their kids are required to wear safety equipment while skating/bike riding, but we didn't.

In any event, we need to know our audience. Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend!

I never meant for that to post....it was for one person..anyway I have worn safety helmets called hard hats back when i was young. Rode under instruction from age 7 to 15 Hunter/Jumper...age 15 to 25 my father added a Dressage instructor to my riding program. In 1973 or '74 my  friend wanted to ride my first horse...I insisted she put on my hard hat because he was a tough guy to handle. He threw her off and her head broke a fence rail..We were 15 or 16 years old when this happened...she almost stopped riding because of this incident. She was injured, but not to the extent it could have been had she not been wearing my hat.
I was just being honest in saying I don't wear helmets all the time...In fact I just started riding a horse today that has some problems....It was so hot I didn't bother to wear one....Many of the trainers/instructors I know do the same...just being honest...
