HI Pam,

We hold a 16-hour horse-rider certification class annually. It is taught and evaluated by P.O.S.T certified instructors from outside our unit – this keeps the certification of the horse-rider team free from internal “politics”. Other evaluations are handled internally, example: We allow certified riders to use another unit member’s horse so long as they pass an abbreviated evaluation on that horse.

Once a rider and/or horse are certified through the 16-hour course they don’t have to be re-certified, but we often choose to take the class more than once just for the fun of it.

Colleen

I am taking a poll on horse teams evaluations tests.

Do you do your testing using members from with in the team? (In house testing)
Do you bring in outsider to do the evaluations?
How often do you require your test to be tested?

Thanks
Pam Bennett
