2004 marks the year of the Monkey in the lunar calendar and in Korea these animals are busy rehearsing to usher in the new year.

They may be dressed up in Hanbok, the Korean traditional costume, but the sounds they offer are of a different origin, a blend of ringing bells and beating drums.

The unique entertainers hail from neighboring Japan and have been training at a Korean Monkey School for the past month.Yet it isn't always easy for the young monkeys to hit the right musical notes on time.

On the other hand older monkeys pull themselves better than their counterparts and soon get into the swing of more tricks.

Thanks to the teachers who have been training monkeys for months, some of these special performers were even invited to an outing on Christmas to help charities like the Salvation Army.
