In  my shareholder agreement I say I will refund the entire amount less a $25.00 cancellation fee up to two weeks before the first pick up.  Have never had anyone cancel once they got into the season.    I like your idea of adding that the CSA is non-refundable.

We are reworking our CSA policies and are stuck a bit on the cancellation policy. In the contract we have written that the CSA is non-refundable, however we have and will always refund it if someone wants it. We simply write that to discourage cancellations. We are considering changing our contract to say that there is a 25% cancellation fee unless the member finds a replacement member.

I am curious how other CSAs approach cancellations. These are rare and in the past when it happened there were legitimate reasons such as someone is moving or lost their job and couldn't afford it, but this year we had a member want to cancel because she said her life was too hectic and she was having trouble making it to the pick-ups. I was happy to get rid of her because she was often late or wanting to change pickup days and such.

How do others approach this occasional problem?

Thanks,

I was wondering about pricing gourds and decorative squash in the Kansas City, MO  area.  Any ideas?
