That price really doesn't surprise me, part prices have just gone nuts.  I ordered some parts to fix some Briggs motors and it really didn't take a lot of parts to get to 1000 dollars. It seems like anything made of steel or rubber, especially any cast parts WOW.  Bought a used head this winter for a tractor and the only one I could find was 1800 before it was gone through
