So long as the asparagus is dormant you shouldn't do any damage by flaming.  Most crowns are deep enough in the soil to have protection.

I would avoid getting close to the blackberry canes.  Even when dormant the cane is still prone to damage and it's easy to damage plant tissue and dormant buds before actually visually seeing that you've burned anything.

      We are flaming several of my garden plots, does any one know if burning down the weeds in an asparagus plot hurt future spear growth. Same question for blackberry canes, will burning the surrounding brush hurt the canes? Thanks, Carla
