My JD roller harrow aka cultimulcher causes a similar effect... pushes rocks into the ground, breaks up clods, smooths the soil out and with the little ridges it creates, I count over so many and have even row spacing.k

For years I have cussed and sworn at the Earth-Way planter and the folk

that built it, all due to the way it handled when planting in what I would call well

prepared soil. Well, this week I took a 55 gal steel barrel, filled about 1/3 with water

and rolled it across the field and then followed it with the Earth-Way, WHAT a

difference. It went better, planted better, felt better to the user, and arrived at the

other headland with a happy gardener.

Which now leaves me in the market for a roller for next year!
