Jon, I to am in Texas. My grandfather used to use a #3 wash tub half full of water with just enough coal oil on top to cover the water. He would hang a light over this and draw the bugs at night. They would fall into the oil and die. He used a coal oil lantern. Yeah I know this was a long time ago but it worked. Bill

It's 2010 and the Beetle invasion has started all over again. Mostly cucumber (striped and spotted) and potato beetles. I've tried Neem oil and chili powder-based sprays but it seems to have no effect. They are wiping out everything. I have several bee hives nearby so I'm hesitant to use anything stronger; however, I've never had these many beetles before. Any suggestions? Thanks,
