Kelly I have a stack of  B type plates but I don;t have a 20-24 so I can't comment on it. I only seed sweetcorn and beans with my planters and I use a B1-24 for larger corn seed of 2000-2400 seeds per pound and a B150-24 for 3000 seeds per pound size seeds. I don't think any B type plate will seed squash or melons. Basically I install a plate, drop in some seed, give the planter wheel a spin, and if what comes out looks right I  assume to have the right seed plate for the job.  BTW a B150-24 has a semicircular cutout  <8/16 wide and <5/16" deep... The plate I have that came with the planter is a B20-24...and I believe it's a cotton seed plate.  What would be the corresponding plates for corn, squash and melons?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

I've acquired a couple old John Deere "B" planters that I'm trying to get back into use.  I'm having a little trouble identifying which seed plates I need for the following crops:

Squash
Melons
Corn

Does anyone out there happen to have the "B" plate numbers for these crops.

Thanks for your help.
