I also use many of the seed houses mentioned, with highest praise for/trust in Johnny's. I use Pinetree for small quantities to experiment with, but also Nichols, Territorial, Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, Tomato Growers and more. I used Gourmet Seed International for the first time this year as have been pleased so far. I try nowadays to stay clear of the Totally Tomatoes/Vermont Bean collection of companies as their response time is so slow, even though I appreciate many of their varieties. I also use Evergreen Seed heavily (we have a growing Asian customer base) but am troubled that I cannot get them to identify which seeds are treated or may even be GMO. I have asked a number of times with my orders to send only untreated/nonGMO seed and have also separately contacted them twice (by email as it seems to be only way), but they still sent treated seed and never addressed the issue at all. (They do respond to email complaints re package mislabels and poor/zero germination -- not common, but not rare either.) I hate to give up the varietal choices they offer, but cannot afford to keep paying for seed we can't use because of treatment and/or the possibility that I could be vector for introducing some GMO horror story to this beautiful, natural island.

Best wishes to all,

Karen

I also like Comstock and Ferre's seeds and I especially like their prices. I like lots of the seed houses already mentioned here too, of course.

Another favorite of mine - that I don't think has been mentioned in this
thread - is EvergreenSeeds. Terrific selection of Asian seeds. I've been
buying seeds from them for at least 20 years, and have never been
disappointed; plus they give quite a few seeds.

I also especially like Seeds from Italy. www.growitalian.com
Bill What's-'s-name (the owner) imports Franchi Sementi seeds from Italy
and sells them on, still sealed in their nice heavy-duty foil-packets.
These are LARGE packets, much larger amounts of seeds than most Americans
sell. He has a very good selection of Italian vegetables, salad stuffs,
and herbs.
