Jeff,

I am the chairman of our Market Farmers group, have been for many years and served various positions on the Board of Directors prior to being elected as chairman.

We advertise using many avenues.  Our local paper has a food editor whom is quite attached to just picked fresh produce, baked goods and ready to eat items.  We do radio advertising.  We have found that our local am (talk format type, mostly) is where we get the biggest bang for the buck.  We do main street banners and have recently added real estate for sale type signage displaying following the arrow directions.  It has been my experience that as high tech we have become, some of the more simple methods are overlooked and quite frankly provide still the best avenue for advertising.  I feel that advertising designed, presented and promoted from a simple country farmer

Perspective, is the most effective, after all, it follows the theme of Farmers Markets.

May riches come your way,

Ron

Hi- I am a market grower who was just elected/appointed as chair of our Grower's Association advertising committee.  Our grower's association consists of about 50 growers with smaller numbers of crafters and prepared food vendors that "fill out" our markets.  We run one very dynamic weekend flagship market as well as six weekday sattelite markets in area communities.  Attendance at all of the markets is good, with weekend attendance being great.

We already print advertise and online advertise, and all of our vendors give out refridgerator magnets listing all of the markets. We also get a lot of favorable press. However, we are looking to really kick up attendance this year.  We are considering radio and "Main Street" banners if we can get communities to allow them.  I am interested in hearing from anyone who uses these methods as well as other "different" ideas that have worked for folks. Thanks.

Jeff
