Alan, I could not agree more. I do wish that there was an easer way for
worker permits to be obtained.
During our growing season we work maybe up to 30 Hispanic workers. Some have
worked on our farm for 15 years or more. All have papers. At the end of the
season they return home and come back in the spring. It has been my
experience with Hispanics that they are good people. With sound morals.
All they want from life is to make a living. I have been to there country,
if I lived there I also would be looking for a better life. Working
Hispanic people is no cheaper than working anybody else. We pay our workers
from $6.50 - $8.00 hour. But they will do the work.
Some of the local white kids come and look for a job, driving a new truck.
(daddy bought for him). Dad & Mom pay for insurance and fuel. He is looking
for a job because parents said he needs a job. Not because he wants to work.
Very few exceptions. I will now step down from my soap box . Bill
