The New York Times Online is running an
interesting feature at:

http://www.nytimes.com/pages/science/index.html

(free signup required)

which is an interactive explanation of the new
"USDA organic" standards for the general public.

It is obvious that someone spent a lot of time
preparing the information.

Given the number of articles which have recently
run in the Times about the coming out of the
"USDA Organic" brand, I can only conclude that
the lobbying to get those articles published came
from the large advertising agencies representing
the food processors who stand to benefit most
from the "USDA Organic" label.

This demonstrates the power of having a unified
brand if nothing else.
