Is there a reason you cannot graze the pasture instead of haying it?  With a good stand of alfalfa or other legumes, grazing would improve the organic matter in the soil helping to overcome issues of low moisture holding in sandy soil.

I am planning to seed some ground down to alfalfa and grass mix for my beef cows. Can anybody give me some organic tips before I start? Also some organic fertilizers to use after cutting each crop.  Please note I live in a very sandy area. Thanks.
