Duh.. "City of Raleigh".  I don't link there and I'm not eligible.  Shoot.  There goes public wi-fi at the condo along with a couple of security cameras.

Nighborhood Wi-Fi would be a great start.  I've always been a fan of that.  A 'hood website would be nice as well.

What "qualifies" as a neighborhood?  Can a cluster of condo buildings that are on their own street w/no other houses or businesses qualify as a neighborhood?

So, a friend at the City of Raleigh has been encouraging me to organize my (new) neighborhood so that it can become eligible for a Neighborhood Improvement Grant of up to $2500.

The grants are meant to improve neighborhoods (duh). Most projects are long the lines of putting up signs in the neighborhood, organizing a community watch, adding new landscaping, etc. Being a geek, I thought I'd see what might be done with technology.

So, I'll put it out to my fellow geeks: how would you geekify your neighborhood with a grant? Set up a community network (WiFi or otherwise)? Design and host a website for the community? Buy security systems and make it a gated community (kidding, of course)? How would you use technology to improve *your* neighborhood?
