Topic: Know Your Data -- Data Mining
We are in the age of information overload. The amount of information
collected and stored, in the form of both data and text, continues to
explode year after year. The more you learn the more you realize you
don't know; part of not knowing is not knowing what is important to
know! It's easy to get lost in the details and find that you haven't
learned anything new.

Data mining is simply a data exploration technique used to uncover and
summarize hidden patterns, associations, and trends; in effect, a way to
know your data. What do you know about technology in the nonprofit
sector? Come explore and mine the data collected from the NC Nonprofit
Technology Survey conducted in July.

Our guest speaker, Annette Sanders (photo at
http://www.rtpnet.org/techcoop/annette.jpg), is a Manager of the
Analytical Solutions department in the Technical Support division of
SAS. She supports SAS Enterprise Miner, SAS Text Miner, SAS/STAT and
SAS/IML, focusing on the data mining products. She has been with SAS
for 12 years and has used SAS software for 19 years.

Prior to joining SAS, she worked as a statistician with Glaxo and
Educational Testing Service.

Annette holds a B.S. in statistics from North Carolina State University.
