Try it anyway - I've only seen one keyboard that needed any help being
connected to a Mac, and that was an old Sun Type V with serial connector
that needed an adapter; it still works with my Mini.

I'm also a great fan of the Mattias Tactile Pro keyboard, for sheer
noisemaking power and excellent action:

The number pad is not detachable, though.
