I'm one of the many unhappy AT&T wireless customers that was sold off to Suncom. I'm being forced to give up the phone I love (http://www.tonyspencer.com/mt/archives/2004/11/ audiovox_smt_56.htm). So I'm looking for a smartphone that works in Europe and is capable of
high-speed data EDGE.

I'm pretty happy with my Nokia 9500, which is the latest in the communicator series. It's not available from Nokia US, but I've been using my imported one without any problems, both here and in the UK.

The 9500 has EDGE for when you're out and about, and 802.11b for when you're near an access point.
