Hey all,

My parent's refrigerator has stopped working, and they are looking for recommendations on who to call. They live in Cary.

Nine times out of ten, when a refrigerator stops working, it's a problem with the compressor. And if the compressor is bad, you're better off buying a new refrigerator rather than get it repaired, because the bulk of a refrigerator's price is for the compressor.

A lot of refrigerator repair places will ask some simple troubleshooting questions over the phone before sending someone out. They can usually tell right away if the compressor is bad. If they determine its bad over the phone, you can save them the trip and go shopping for a new one instead.

Cheers!
