I thought some folks on this list might be interested in this programming
event starting May 9th at the Carolina in Durham. For more information
about these films, see www.apollocinema.com . Also screening at the Colony
in Raleigh May 16th (but it's really worth the drive to the Carolina).

ACADEMY AWARD-NOMINATED SHORT FILM PROGRAM TO SCREEN AT CAROLINA THEATRE
CINEMAS

Durham, NC - For one week only, The Carolina Theatre Cinemas will
celebrate the short film form! Experience this rare opportunity to view
this year's Academy Award-nominated films in one single viewing. All 9
Oscar-nominated shorts (five animated and four live-action) including the
winning films, will begin showing on May 9, 2003.

The films being screened include Chris Stenner and Heidi Wittlinger's Das
Rad, Dirk Belien's and Anja Daelemans' Fait d'Hiver, Tomek Baginski's The
Cathedral, Steven Pasvolsky and Joe Weatherstone's Inja, Koji Yamamura's
Mt. Head, Phillipe Orreindy and Thomas Gaudin's I'll Wait For the Next
One, Pete Docter and Roger Gould's Mike's New Car, Martin Strange-Hansens
and Mie Andreasen's This Charming Man, the winner of the Live-Action Short
Oscar! and Eric Armstrong's The Chubb Chubbs, winner of the Best Animated
Short Oscar! Viewers should note that there is occasional mild language
and full frontal nudity in Fait d'Hiver. For more information about

Advance tickets go on sale Friday, May 2, 2003 at the Cinema Box Office,
309 West Morgan Street, Downtown Durham or call (919) 560-3030. Show
times for the program are 7:00 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. nightly beginning May 9,
with weekend matinees showing at 2:00 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Regular tickets
are available at the Cinema Box Office one half hour before the first
feature of the day. Regular admission is $7.00 for evening shows and
$5.50 for matinees with student and senior tickets at $5.50 for all
screenings.
