I'm really sorry to hear such bleak news. And I'm sorry we'll be losing you to <gag> Philadelphia.

Actually, it's where I am originally from. I've only been in NC for 7 years. But it is a much larger job market and they don't seem to be pinched quite as badly. Plus the dynamics of getting a job seem to move much faster there. The process that I have been in with BB&T has gone on for what seems like a couple of months now (have to double check) and they still don't know what they want. After four interviews and coming out on top of all the other candidates, they are still indecisive. Actually the last company I interviewed with before BB&T turned out much the same way (I came out on top but they are still looking anyway). In Philadelphia I would typically score a job offer before leaving the first interview, and start working within a week.

Let us all know if you need help with anything.

I'll probably have a lot of stuff to sell (furniture, computer stuff, etc)... if it isn't off topic I'd like to post a list when the time comes.

And hang in there.

P.S. I gagged too soon, perhaps. Philadelphia has at least one redeeming quality, that of its greatest delicacy, the Cheesesteak.

I count at least four. First spelling for each is a phonetic guide to pronouncing these words like a "Fluffia" (Philadelphia) native.

1. "Cheezdake" (Cheese steak) (which only slightly resembles the sandwich of the same name served at some mall joints here)
2. "Soff prezzel" (Soft pretzel) - Everyone there has seen the video of the street vendor pissing on the side of the road and going back to selling pretzels without washing up but we still eat them anyway.
3. "Tayzdeecakes" (Tastycake) - Far superior to the more universal twinky or moon pie. Few snacks hold a candle to the Butterscotch Krimpet. A couple of gas stations are starting to carry these now, but it really is a Philly local thing.
4. "Sgrabble" (Scrapple) - This is made from the meat by-products that they wouldn't put in sausage! It's literally a slurring of the words "scrap pile". You fry it up in a pan and serve it as a breakfast meat. VERY tasty stuff. Just don't ask how they make it. This is one of the dishes that crossed over from the Pennsylvania Dutch (who aren't really dutch at all) community into mainstream society there.

We plan on coming back in a few years if the job market improves. But right now the word of the day is "survival".
