Bridging the Triangle's Digital/Human Divide:
What's Working; What Must Be Done
[in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina]

A conference for people interested in closing the "Digital Divide" in
the
Triangle will be held Saturday, April 15, at The William and Ida Friday
Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill.

Some people are benefiting from new technology and some are not. This
conference addresses the growing gap in the Triangle between those who
have access to technology and the development of information skills and
those who do not.

Collaboration among non-profit organizations, individual volunteers, and
corporations can make a difference. Figuring out how will be our goal as
we learn about the accomplishments, problems solved, and continuing
challenges of local projects and develop plans for continued
collaboration.

Participants will include organizations that provide computer access and
training, corporations that provide funding, and individuals, such as
educators, librarians, and computer specialists, who want to learn how
they can contribute.

The conference fee, $35 on or before April 12, $45 after April 12,
includes lunch and materials. Registration is limited. Scholarships are
available.

For more information, including the registration form, see
www.rtpnet.org/rtpconf or send e-mail to info AT rtpnet.org. The
organizers
are not prepared to handle telephone calls.

The conference is sponsored by RTPnet, a community network for RTP, at
www.RTPnet.org.

Contact: Judy Hallman <hallman AT rtpnet.org>, Executive Director of
RTPnet.
