Ayup...usin' hand tools to cut firewood can give ya a warm fuzzy feelin'
when ya think about it settin' in yer easy chair...:-)...but I've been
cuttin' firewood fer sixty years...more or less...with all manor of hand
tools...and can tell ya I'll use my trusty Ol' Husky chain saw over all the
hand tools put together...:-)...and I'll split it with my trusty Ol'
Craftsman twenty seven ton hydralic splitter...:-). Nuthin' against those
that want to take the hand tool route...just been there and done that so I
have an idea of whats it's like...:-) Would rather spend my time doin'
somethin' I like better then workin' up firewood...Franklin

All those who aspire to self-reliance should own and become skilled,
or at least competent, in the use of hand tools to back up every tool
they use that is powered, whether by electricity or gasoline. Whether
from power or fuel outages or inevitable high prices, power tools may
well become unusable.

I am today good with letting a propane-fired, thermostatically-
regulated heater keep the Heartwood shack warm. I would feel
vulnerable and stupid if I were not prepared to do the job with
firewood that I cut from our own trees. As I have done for many years
in the past.
