Title: The Naked Sword...
Perhaps the sword wielding follower in 14:47 is meant to be held together in comparison with the fleeing naked young man of 14:51. Perhaps Mark wasn't content with the global abandonment of 14:50, and wanted to include specific individual illustrations so as to "put a face" onto the general desertion of V. 50.

Psychologically we have in these two individuals a good example of the "fight or flee" mechanism when encountering danger. Of course, Mark was no psychologist, but maybe Mark was illustrating the complete blindness the followers had regarding what faithfulness looked like. The best they had to offer was a sword, the worst was running naked away.
