Should work... have you tried without encryption parameter ??
Have you installed a certificate on the server ?? mssql 2005 install a
default certificate (self signed) while mssql 2000 require a manual
operation. Does ms odbc driver works with encryption forced on ?? If
reply is yes you should try a snapshot.
