Can FreeTDS be setup to use encryption on the data stream? Specifically, I've got a SQL 2005 server which I'm trying to migrate things to. SQL Server 2005 now has a cool feature whereby you can set it to force encryption on from the server and it will self-sign a certificate and use it to encrypt the data transmission (i.e. not just the logins are encrypted but the entire data stream).

I'm working with the sysadmin who installed FreeTDS here and we got it to work properly with encryption not forced on, but I'd like to have the peace of mind of knowing that all traffic is encrypted without installing a client certificate on every computer that will hook into our database. After changing the setting back to force encryption from the server, the FreeTDS connections fail.

Any pointers? If not, is this something somebody is working on?

Bob
