Well, as you can see, there's an implicit switch. By the time we get to
testing column_varint_size, we assume we're dealing with a blob, and the the
only remaining question is whether it's datafull or null. The switch could
be made explicit, but the effect wouldn't change. It would just make the
code clearer, and if the code was completely clear, what would we talk about
then?
