Ah that explains it. I still think it's lame Sybase doesn't
support the Solaris intel architecture, but with freetds I don't
really care. You should check it out if you have the resources.
One of our programs runs in 17 minutes on a single processor 1 GHz
Pentium 4 with 512 meg of memory but takes 94 minutes on a four 250
MHz processor Sparc E3000 with 1 gig of memory that cost 10 times
as much as the PC. Granted the E3000 is busy doing other chores
like running a database, but still.
