PAN is so excited to collaborate with Bonita Eloise Ford. She has been an active member of the permaculture community and is our new board coordinator.

Embers of Hope: Embracing Life in an Age of Ecological Destruction and Climate Chaos.

“With open-hearted generosity, Bonita Eloise Ford weaves a pathway with permaculture, energy healing, the Indigenous wisdom of her teachers, and her own life experience, and then guides the reader through a series of exercises to enable us all to face the challenges of a world in ecological collapse and climate chaos with clarity and meaning. That is how, as the fire dies, we find the Embers of Hope.” —Maddy Harland, editor of Permaculture Magazine and author of Fertile Edges: Regenerating Land, Culture and Hope

Roundtable Discussion on Decolonizing Permaculture

Tuesday, December 7, 6:30pm to 8pm (online)

Join us in a roundtable discussion as PAN journeys towards decolonizing permaculture. We wish to create a frank conversation modelling vulnerability and transparency, moving past decolonization and moving towards equity. This event will include a panel with PAN board  members and breakout groups with attendees.

Whether you have just started to study about decolonization or have been an activist or a community leader for years, we all have a place on this learning continuum. We invite you to join us as we learn together and share our experiences.

Save the date and stay tuned for more details.

If you have questions about the event, please email our board coordinator, Bonita, at info AT northeastpermaculture.org.

"NE Network" Facebook Group Admins

We want to thank those who started this group so long ago and those who have helped to steward it all along the way as our network and social media landscape have been evolving. Even though the effectiveness or even "enjoyability" of using FB is an open question for a lot of people, this group is still one of a small number of ways that permaculture folks in our region do stay connected and share information and ideas.

A request! At this point in our “succession”, we are looking for a few more people to help admin or moderate this Facebook Group.

We are seeking 2-3 new admins who are aligned with, and can lift up in their admin approach, our shared
network values

Once these folks join the admin circle, we would be a total of 4-5 people with admin access who can share the following responsibilities in a very loosely coordinated way. This is probably a total commitment of no more than 10-30 minutes a week per person depending on your interest/ability to engage.

  • Moderating requests for people to join the group (this task requires an eye for potential bots/trolls/spammers and we can help with that skill if needed)
  • “Checking in” on the group at least a handful of times per week
  • Flag or otherwise deal with any spam or items that violate the group agreements or network values
  • Occasionally post items of interest from time to time to keep the group useful and relevant
  • Model interactive behavior by liking or commenting on community posts, tagging other relevant people in your comments if appropriate

This is a volunteer community activity. This is not a paid role. We are hoping for a 1-2 year commitment for continuity.

If you are interested and available, please email Lisa ASAP at hibernia33(at)gmail.com. Thank you.
