Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County

Horticulture Program Manager – CCE-Tompkins County is looking for an enthusiastic and innovative garden educator to implement the Tompkins County Home Horticulture Adult Education Program and support the outreach work of Master Gardeners and other horticulture volunteers.

 

Duties include: recruiting, training and supporting volunteers; organizing public garden classes and events such as the annual Plant Sale; responding to public questions; writing timely gardening articles for print and social media; recruiting, training and supporting volunteers; collaborating with other CCE horticulture educators and gardening groups to expand outreach ensuring a reputation for high quality educational programs and resources that reach a wide variety of audiences. The ability to perform, or direct others in performing, gardening tasks is required and a valid driver’s license and ability to drive is desirable.  

 

Masters Degree or Bachelors Degree with 4 years’ experience in horticulture, plant and soil sciences, adult education and volunteer management is desired.

 

This is a part-time position (28-32 hours/week) w/ benefits. Possibility of additional hours if grants are secured. Some evening meetings and weekend events require the individual in this position to work a flexible schedule.
