Calling all community & home gardeners!

Are you interested in knowing just how much you grow? Or how much that produce would cost you at the farmer's market?

The Food Dignity project is looking for you! We are in our third year of studying how much community gardeners grow. Twenty-six Ithaca area gardeners participated last year, and we averaged 182 pounds of produce each!

Introductory meeting
Wed, April 30th, 6:30pm
Just Be Cause building
1013 West State Street

Can't make the meeting? No problem. I'm happy to meet you at your garden plot or another convenient location. I'm on campus in the Plant Sciences building.

FAQs about the Harvest Log Project:

What does a gardener do in this project?
You do the following:
1) weigh your produce and record it on a log sheet provided
2) draw a detailed map of your garden ( I can help with this!)
3) answer a survey about your gardening practices and food purchasing habits

What does a gardener gain from participating?
1) interesting information about your garden yields. All participants are fascinated by their results-trust me!
2) a digital garden scale to keep
3) $50 Visa gift card upon completion of the log
4) Celebrity status when you are featured on our garden blog:

Who started it?
This is part of a larger project--the Food Dignity project-- funded by the USDA and based at University of Wyoming. Ithaca is one of five locations where community groups and academic institutions are working together to study the emerging community food movement. For more information, see www.fooddignity.org.

Please contact Heather if you're interested in joining our Harvest Log team!

Heather Scott
