The Sustainability Café
on
Monday, September 24th

will feature
Miles Crettien ‘09
from
VertiCulture and Lenox Hill Neighborhood House

discussing
“Sustainable Food Production in NYC: A Focus on Aquaponics.”

The Sustainability Café will be held on the Ithaca College campus in the
Center for Natural Sciences Room 112 at 4:00PM in conjunction with the
Environmental Seminar.

Miles Crettien ’09 has an extensive background in horticultural design,
propagation, and research. At IC, he studied Environmental Science and
Business Management and focused his research on the mechanisms behind plant
defenses and biofuel production. Miles has led numerous initiatives to promote
the practice of urban agriculture in NYC, including sustainable agriculture
consulting firm and assembling the team of engineers and agriculture
professionals for his most recent aquaponics project, VertiCulture.

Miles is currently the Coordinator of Healthy Foods and Wellness at the Lenox
Hill Neighborhood House, a non-profit organization in New York City, where he
established three rooftop gardens for use by clients and staff.

This event is free and open to the public.

“Teachable edibles” – local, organic and/or seasonal snacks – for the Fall
2012 Sustainability Café series are being sponsored by Ithaca College Dining
Services whose motto is “Sustainability – Healthy – Fresh.”

Please bring your reusable mug and fill up at the nearest drinking fountain or
provide your own beverage of choice.

Drink in a new way to think in the Sustainability Café.
