Become a Garden Educator!

The Gardens4Humanity Garden Educators Training Starts October 1st!

Gardens 4 Humanity (G4H) is recruiting parents, teachers, students and all interested community members to become Gardens 4 Humanity educators. As a G4H educator, you will receive a free 20-hour garden based learning training in exchange for 20-hours of volunteer teaching time. During and after the training you will shadow experienced G4H educators in a classroom, after-school or community setting during garden based learning programs. You will be matched with a school or community site to teach/help a group on a regular basis to fill the 20 hour requirement.  (We will do our best to match you to a school or community center of choice/close to your home.)

Training topics will include gardening basics, perennial plantings, effectively teaching gardening to kids and adults in and out of the classroom setting, building community through gardening, permaculture, building healthy soil, raised bed construction, and garden and food related activities.

Cost: The training is free but requires 20-hours of volunteer teaching time during/after the training.

No prior gardening or teaching experience is required.

Dates & Times

Training will be held Saturday October 1, 10:00am - 3:00pm and Thursdays evenings October 6-November 10, 6:00 - 8:30pm.  The Saturday training will be outside and almost completely hands-on.
